چکیده

We introduce three implantable tissue regeneration systems; an implantable cell graft culture system, an implantable electrical stimulation system for bone regeneration, and a liquid crystal polymer (LCP)based bone regeneration device. These devices allow electrical stimulation to stem cell grafts under in vivo circumstances. After a cell culture using the implantable cell graft culture system, we obtained the results of the cell proliferation rate increase of 22% compared with the non-stimulated group. From a bone regeneration experiment using the implantable electrical stimulation system for bone regeneration, the stimulated group showed a higher bone volume by 260% compared with the non-stimulated group.

Age-Dependent Regeneration by Using Electromyographical Study Foliowing Sciatic Nerve Injury in Rat

Purpose: There are extensive evidences that show axonal processes of the nervous system (peripheral and/or central) may be degenerated after nerve injuries. Axonal regeneration is relation to various factors. In this investigation we decided to evaluate the effects of nerve regeneration age-dependent on injured rat sciatic nerv. Materials and Methods: For this study, the right sciatic nerve of...

Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) of Denervated Muscles: Existing and Prospective Technological Solutions

Recent experimental and clinical work gives strong evidence that functional electrical stimulation (FES) is a powerful tool for regeneration, functional restoration and maintenance of denervated musculature, a fact that for various reasons was not recognized in the past. On reason was the lack of associated technology that in comparison to existing FES equipment for nerve stimulation has to mee...

Development of a New Implantable System for Functional Electrical Stimulation in Sendai Fes Project

We developed a new implantable FES system with 32 output channels. In this system, a RF coil utilizing amorphous magnetic fibers was introduced for increasing transmission efficiency of this telemeter system which transmitted currents for electric power supply to the implanted system and for applying electrical stimulation to the paralyzed muscles. A helically coiled 19 strand rope wound from u...

Analysis of induced electrical currents from magnetic field coupling inside implantable neurostimulator leads

BACKGROUND Over the last decade, the number of neurostimulator systems implanted in patients has been rapidly growing. Nearly 50, 000 neurostimulators are implanted worldwide annually. The most common type of implantable neurostimulators is indicated for pain relief. At the same time, commercial use of other electromagnetic technologies is expanding, making electromagnetic interference (EMI) of...
